Shoshana Altschuler- Owner and Head Trainer

Shana Altschuler’s love of horses began at the age of 5. It was then that she asked her mother for riding lessons and her lifelong passion began. Shana began riding with Harry DeLeyer at the age of 12, where she helped break and train young horses and showed at major A shows on the East Coast. After high school she attended Skidmore College and helped lead the IHSA team to National Championships in 1993 and 1995 and was also the 1993 Indiviudal Intermediate Over Fences National Champion. As a young professional, Shana worked at Sag Pond Farm (now Wolffer Estate Stables) where she had the opportunity to train with some of the best show jumpers in the world including Tom Grubb and Joe Fargis.

Shana briefly left the world of horses to attend law school in New York City and subsequently practiced in the field of corporate litigation before leaving the profession to have children. She now lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband and 3 children.

Shana began Owl Ridge Farm in 2015 and has turned it into a very successful training, show and sales program. Shana has continued to ride and show at the Grand Prix level while leading her students to success in all levels of hunters, jumpers and equitation. Shana specializes in sourcing quality horses and ponies from her connections in both the US and Europe and has had dozens of successful sale horses.

Abby Johnston- Assistant Trainer

Abby Johnston has been riding since the age of 8 and got her start learning correct basics and horsemanship. Abby spent her high school years riding with Frank Madden, gaining experience in all 3 rings including International Hunter Derbies, equitation finals and Amateur Owner Jumpers. She closed out her junior career with top 15 finishes at both USEF Medal Finals and USET Talent Search Finals. She then attended the University of Delaware to study Medical Laboratory Science where she joined the IHSA team and was 5th in the Cacchione Cup in 2017.

Abby became a professional shortly after college and has shaped her career around her love of developing young horses. In addition to riding, she teaches students of all levels and plays an integral part in helping our riders reach their goals.
